Maxtla and Tayatzin

Long before the rule of Tlatoani Cuetzpalin Moctezuma Xocoyotzin, the Mexica paid tributes to the Tepanec rulers from Azcapotzalco. In the CUETZPALIN Mythos, just as some Cuetzpalin (reptilian humanoids) lived among the Mexica, some of them even being rulers like Moctezuma, there also lived Cuetzpalin among the neighbor peoples, some also playing major political roles. Here, there are the brothers Maxtla and Tayatzin from altepetl Azcapotzalco.

While Tayatzin (the Hadrosaurus-looking Cuetzpalin at the right) was chosen by their father Tezozomoc to become the rightful ruler, and was even vocally supported by the current Mexica Tlatoani (Chimalpopoca) in doing so, Maxtla (on the left, the one with hair), a Cuetzpalin-hunahu hybrid, has devised a plan to take his brother's place after their father died, taking charge in his stead, capturing and torturing those who opposed, what included Chimalpopoca himself, in one of the most troublous times of history, and at the last years of Azcapotzalco's hegemony. Not much time after Maxtla became ruler, Mexica cihuacoatl (a political title) Tlacaelel, the brother of Chimalpopoca, would inherit the Tonalcoatl of legendary Toltec Cuetzpalin Ehecatl and join with the missing Nezahualcoyotl, the son of a ruler killed by Tezozomoc (Maxtla & tayatzin's father) into a coalition that would ultimately destroy Maxtla.
